FORM OF BOND TO BE GIVEN BY THE MASTER OF A SHIP HOLDING A SPECIAL LICENCE. Know all men by these prescuts that we, A.B., of

THE FOURTH SCHEDULE. REGULATIONS FOR LICENSED PASSENGER STEAMERS,

Section 23.

Prohibition

2. The following conditions as to the accommodation of passeugers shall be observed :--

(1.) the space appropriated to the passengers he- tween decks shall be properly ventilated aud shall contain at the least nine superficial and fifty-four subie feet of space for every adult on board, that is to say, for every passenger above twelve years of age and for every two passengers between the ages of one and twelve years; the height between decks slinll be at least six feet;

(2.) the accommodation for female passengers be- tween decks shall be separate from that pro- vided for male passengers ;

(3.) a space of four superficial feet per adult sha!! be left clear on the upper deck for the use of passengers; and

(4.) a reasonable space shall be set apart as a sick bay, and sufficient latrines, both as to condition and number, shall be provided in suitable parts of the ship.
